The International Thriller Writers Association is proud to announce the debut of our luncheon series called BRUNCH & BULLETS. The first of these unique events, to be held on March 17 at the Renaissance Hollywood Hotel, will feature a meal at a table occupied by one of fifteen bestselling thriller authors.
The event’s true main course, though, is the fact that 25% of the proceeds from the event will be donated to Beyond the Bell, the local Los Angeles chapter of Reading Is Fundamental.
“We've brought together an amazing range of authors for our debut luncheon to support a terrific cause,” says event organizer Jon Land, Fundraising Chair of ITW. “Sandra Brown's multiple New York Times bestsellers often incorporate romance and have strong female leads. David Morrell (First Blood) practically invented the high-action thriller and nobody does political suspense better then Gayle Lynds. Gregg Hurwitz ranges from high tech to procedural and Nancy Taylor Rosenberg is the mistress of the legal thriller, while Christopher Rice adds eroticism to the mix. The amazing thing is that all these writers and more, (including current NY Times bestseller John Lescroart and Heather Graham), will be in the room at the same time for everyone to meet and actually share a meal with."
Asked why ITW chose to partner with Reading is Fundamental, Land replies, "It's one thing to say you're behind a cause, but ITW wanted to demonstrate our support in a tangible way. Successful authors supporting a group that promotes reading? It just seemed like the perfect fit."
BRUNCH & BULLETS will make its East Coast debut on May 5 for the New York area at the Hyatt Regency in Greenwich Connecticut. With two Brunch & Bullets luncheons this year, and more to be added in 2008, Land expects the actual level of support for RIF will be "very significant."
